Three-color set – Four-color cover

Even before my teenage years, I used to buy new issues from the Luxembourg Philatelic Agency.  Among my early acquisitions was the lovely three-stamp set issued in 1959 featuring flowers from Mondorf-les-Bains.

I still enjoy these floral beauties, and even more so on this unusual FSPL-cacheted first day cover.

Here the 6.50 F set was insufficient to pay the 2.50 F domestic letter rate and the 6.00 F registry fee.  So the 2.00 F deficiency is neatly paid by the red two-franc postage due stamp postmarked at Rodange on April 4, 1959, the day after the first day of issue.

What stamps did you collect when you were twelve years old?
